Aboriginal Culture - A overview
Aboriginal culture is one of the worlds longest lived cultures, and it has vastly changed since 1700 AD when our land welcomed the arrival of Macassan (Indonesian) on Northern Australian Shore. According to scientists and scholars the arrival of humans dated back to 50,000 years ago. The time when Europeans first came, it was estimated that a maximum of 1 million people lived in Australia. The colonization came and culture has still changed and evolved even further. Throughout Aboriginal culture and the continent there are many variations of art styles, weaponry, basketry and different tools.
Indigenous Australians were the first human inhabitants of the Australian continent and all its nearby islands. 2.5% of Australia's population is made up of both Torres Strait Islanders and the Aboriginal people which both fall under the term 'Indigenous Australians'.
