What is the Gurringah Festival?
Our Festivals Acknowledgment - 'We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land, the Guringaii peoples on whose land we now stand, we pay our respects to the elders past and present.'
The Guringai Festival aims to raise awareness for the Torres Straight Islanders and the Indigious people, that live in the Sydney region. It all began in 2001, taking place in the 2nd week of July and starting on Sorry Day (26th May) and continues until the end of NAIDOC week. The events that take place are numerous talks, art exhibitions performances ranging from dance to song, workshops and films.
